Our history

 

W.F. Denny’s journey began in 1919, when William Fowler Denny established a small packaging and haberdashery business in Manchester. Initially operating with a wooden cart and a borrowed horse, W.F. Denny grew from humble beginnings, overcoming challenges such as relocation during the Hulme Slum Clearance and the Blitz in the 1940s. As the company expanded, it evolved from a family business into a well-respected packaging wholesaler, and later into a supplier of biodegradable and eco-friendly products.
In the 1990s, W.F. Denny branched into partyware, initially with a retail shop that became a destination store in Altrincham. This development transformed the company’s focus, allowing us to connect with customers directly and expand our offerings to include party balloons, decorations, and more. Our online store further extended our reach, bringing sustainable partyware to homes and businesses across the UK.

In 2024, we became part of CJK Packaging, a family-run business with a 30-year legacy in premium packaging. This partnership combines our eco-conscious partyware expertise with CJK’s expansive resources, enabling us to offer even greater value to our B2B and B2C customers. Together, we remain dedicated to sustainability, quality and exceptional customer service, while embracing the opportunities that come with being part of the CJK family.
